Councillor Tilley recognized the minor and major women’s hockey teams that went to Ottawa to compete in a tournament. The minor women’s hockey team was able to sit on the bench before the Ottawa Professional Women’s Hockey team played and then watched them win the game, which was very rewarding.

Councillor Tilley congratulated the Iqaluit Blizzard novice hockey team for winning all five games and winning gold in a tournament in Ottawa.

Alternate Deputy Mayor Flaherty note that the annual Toonik Tyme was about to start its 49" year. He felt that the volunteer organizers of 123 Go! should be recognized, as many people from other communities come to Iqaluit to celebrate Toonik Tyme.

Alternate Deputy Mayor Flaherty felt the City should provide additional support for the celebration as there is no centre to host events due to the high cost of insurance. He noted that it was becoming more obvious that Iqaluit needs a community centre/hall.
